Environment

In wood acquisition Honka favours Finnish forest. This way it is ensured that the wood is brought up accordant with sustainable development. Additionally, Honka favours forest areas near to the factories. They are located in the optimal pine growth areas and short transport distances.

The glue used in lamination process of Honka logs is pro-environmental. The usage of the material nor cleaning the machinery do not generate any pollutant waste.

In Karstula, the waste wood is burned in a 10 MWh power plant that produces almost all the heat needed by Karstula town centre and neigboring companies in addition to the factory. Additionally, it generates 1 MW of “green” electricity which covers the annual power requirement of Karstula factory.
